Why I Built Name Combiner

I work as a web developer in India and studied Computer Science, spending my day-to-day work building interactive TypeScript and Next.js browser tools. I started Name Combiner in September 2026 after friends kept asking me to help come up with a readable wedding hashtag for them, and after I spent a weekend trying to find a side-project name and social username that wasn't already taken—only to find that every existing name generator gave me the same unusable, random letter lists.

Most online name generators treat every naming task as the exact same problem: they return one long random list, slice letters at awkward consonant clusters, hide how letters were joined, or add decorative symbols that break across devices. When someone is blending two partner names, exploring a family-name combination for a baby, merging two words for a project or business, looking for a natural nickname, or testing a social handle, each task needs different rules and different controls.

Working from India, my focus since launching the site in September 2026 has been on keeping every tool transparent, readable, and easy to control. Rather than putting every visitor through a single generic input box, I built separate tools around the specific decision a visitor is making—exposing clear options for letter splits, prefix and suffix blends, syllable counts, style preferences, and platform character rules so results can be compared side by side.

Every interactive generator on Name Combiner runs directly in your browser. I do not store the names or words you type on my servers to generate combinations, and any shortlist you star is saved locally on your own device using browser localStorage. My Background & What Makes This Tool Different

Having studied Computer Science and worked hands-on with JavaScript/TypeScript string processing and front-end architecture, I approached name blending as a practical software and readability problem rather than a random text mashup:

  • Explicit Fragment Breakdowns: Every candidate shows the exact letters and percentage contributed by each source name (such as Dav (57%) + ah (43%) → Davah) so you never have to guess how a result was formed.
  • Vowel & Syllable Boundary Checks: My scoring functions penalize triple repeated letters and unpronounceable 4+ consonant runs while estimating spoken syllable counts.
  • Platform Syntax Conventions: My username tools apply commonly published character and length conventions for X/Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Discord, Twitch, and GitHub. They do not check live account availability.
  • Pre-Deploy Testing: Before I deploy an update to namecombiner.co.uk, I carry out ordinary testing, including Node.js unit tests and route checks, to help catch accuracy and mobile usability problems.

Name Combiner is built and maintained by me as a solo creator. I review every tool and guide for clarity, accuracy, and mobile usability, showing its publication date and any later update date. I correct factual or technical errors when they are reported, and I never publish fabricated reviews, ratings, user counts, or credentials.

Name Combiner is an independent project supported by display advertising served through Ezoic, which keeps my tools and guides free to use without accounts or subscriptions.
